Why should I (and my students) come to Le Concours du Texas?
For teachers, Le Concours du Texas allows you to showcase what you have taught your students by demonstrating their ability. The contest is also brings an element of fun into the first semester of school!
For students, Le Concours du Texas allows you to show off your own French ability to your friends, family, school, and prospective colleges.
How much does it cost?
There is a $5.00 fee per student to cover the costs of the contest.
What if I register but something else comes up that day?
Fees are assessed on the registration deadline day: October 25, 2019. You can cancel before then with no consequences, but if you're registered on the deadline day you owe us the fee—even if you can't come.
Do teachers have to come?
Yes. The teacher who registered a student is required to be at the venue while his or her students are there.
My student can only come for part of the day. Is that okay?
Yes. Only register for the tests you can take (see the schedule) and make sure someone will be able to collect any prizes you win!
Can I volunteer?
Yes. Anyone, including teachers and parents, can volunteer. Please see our Volunteer Registration.
Who can compete?
Visit the Rules page for more information, but essentially any student who is:

Yes! There is a category for those with special exposure.

How do I register my students?
Follow the instructions on the Registration page. You will receive your own private page where you can then add your students.
How do I know that my registration worked?
Your private registration page automatically saves as you edit it.
Can I change my registration?
Yes. Go to your registration page (using the link) and change whatever you need to before the deadline.
No edits will be allowed after the deadline of October 24, 2018.
How many students can be registered per school?
Any number of students may test so long as each student has been properly registered.
Can multiple teachers register their own students from the same school?
As long as each individual student is only registered once, yes.

What do students need to bring?
Is there parking? Where is Highland Park High School?
Highland Park High School is located at 4220 Emerson Dallas, TX 75205. There is plenty of parking in the parking garage on the east side.

- Lunch money
- Schoolwork or entertainment for downtime between tests

Will there be food for lunch at the venue?
Yes. Pizza, drinks, and snacks will be sold in the cafeteria throughout the day. Please bring cash.
How should students prepare?
Read the tips on the Tests page.
How are the tests scored?
The Grammar, Vocabulary, and Culture tests will be recorded by the students on Scantron forms and scored by machine.
The Dictée tests will be hand-graded by event administrators.
There is no penalty for wrong answers (so guess!).
Scores for each test will be the percent correct out of 100%.
Are there awards, placings, sweepstakes, trophies, ribbons, et cetera?
There are Test Placings, Individual Sweepstakes, and School Sweepstakes awards. See the Contest Rules for a thorough explanation of how these will be awarded.

If you have a complaint about a test and/or question...
The teacher who registered the student must report the complaint as soon as possible to any member of the event staff. All concerns will be reviewed thoroughly.
